It is the absolute best time of the year – Spooky Season!  And there is no better way to celebrate Halloween than with a Butcher Box from Duck Donuts in Winchester.  Located in the Kernstown Commons off of I-81 Exit 310, Duck Donuts is bringing back the Butcher Box for a limited time.  You can call the store to pre-order, but do so between now and October 31st before it disappears back into the grave!

Price 💲💲out of 5

The Butcher Box has a special set rate of $15.  This is a big higher than a traditional half-dozen, but with how much time and effort goes into 3D printing the designs, turning them into fondant, and adding the buttercream, icing, and drizzles.

Duck Donuts is fully decked out for Halloween.  They have plenty of Halloween decor, from window art all the way down to some creepy skeletons.  When they aren’t decorated for Halloween, I always appreciate how clean and bright the store is.  You can tell that the staff takes pride in making sure the store is always presentable and inviting.

Let’s get down to the Butcher Box.  All of these donuts start with a cake base, which in my humble opinion are so much better than a yeast-based donut.  They are denser and have a more consistent texture.  They all have buttercream filling, and then each donut has a unique mixture of icing and drizzle that goes with the theme of the slasher.  The coolest part is the fondant cutouts of Chucky, Jack Skellington, Freddy Krueger, Ghostface, Jason Vorhees, and Pennywise.  All are made with a 3D printer, so they come out looking exactly like our favorite horror movie slashers.

Experience ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5

This was by far the most fun shoot we have ever done.  It helped that our fearless leader decided to dress up in full Dracula costume and makeup for this one.  It may have taken about 10 takes to get through because we were laughing so hard, but this is what this group is all about – highlighting local restaurants while having a blast doing it!
