A Northern Virginia staple has finally made its way to the Eastern Panhandle! Homespun, one of the most visited burger and ice cream shops in Berryville, has opened a new location right in the heart of Charles Town, bringing high quality ingredients and locally sourced meat to the Eastern Panhandle. It was such a treat getting to visit their new location, and even though they were brand new, the food and the service were both exceptional.

Price 💲💲 out of 5
Homespun has a great variety of food options to choose from. You can have an entire meal for under $10, but if you are really hungry, you can get up to a full pound hamburger for only $24. Everything is very reasonable, and the portions are definitely big enough to get the value for anything you pick.

Homespun has done an incredible job repurposing the building they are in to fit their aesthetic. Everything is extremely clean and it gives off a down home type of vibe. They have all kinds of merchandise and branded decore, the colors are fantastic, and they have a beautiful back patio that will be so awesome to sit at during the nice weather months. Whether you are eating inside or outside, the ambience at Homespun is top notch.

Let’s get down the food items we go to try:
The Sweet Italian – not a traditional glizzy (although they serve plenty of those), this dog was made of ¼ pound of pasture-raised pork sausage, served on a lobster roll with sweet peppers, onions, marinara, and pecorino cheese. This was right up my alley as I love Italian food.

Pulled Pork BBQ – I’m usually hesitant to get pulled pork at restaurants, because many places serve it flavorless and dry. This sandwich is neither. The pork had great flavor and every bite was very moist.

Make It A Double Burger – this burger was a monster, with two ⅓ pound grass-fed beef patties, cheese, and your choice of toppings and sauces. It was served with truffle fries that are fried in beef tallow, enhancing the flavor profoundly.

Soup and Grilled Cheese – the tomato soup was one of the best I ever had. It had beans and was so much more hearty than a traditional tomato soup. The grilled cheese was melty and buttery as well.

Root Beer Float – I am not a fan of Root Beer, so I did not partake in this one, but for those that loved Root Beer, this is straight from the tap so it is extremely fresh with bright flavors.

Cookie Crumble Sundae – what an exceptional way to end this feast. This sundae had oreo and chocolate chip cookie crumbles, plus hot fudge and whipped cream. Their ice cream is next level.

I’m really happy that Homespun has been able to open up another location in the Eastern Panhandle. I fully support a symbiotic relationship between Northern Virginia and the Eastern Panhandle. There are a ton of amazing restaurants across the border, and for some of them to want to open up areas in the Eastern Panhandle shows that this area is truly up-and-coming!
