Taking you back to the streets of Shepherd University!
The Shepherdstown Sweet Shop Bakery was your typical cutesy shop with goodies that looked both beautiful and delectable! Some of the treats I couldn’t believe were real. It brings me back to when I was a kid and wanted so badly to eat the toy food I had!

The prices were what I would expect for fresh homemade baked goods. Not too expensive, but not the cheapest desserts I’ve had.

They had many grab and go items to choose from, and a little coffee refill station! You can definitely tell this is the perfect off campus getaway to wind down, have a coffee or pastry, and crank out some homework. The shop was so quiet that I was afraid I’d ruin the atmosphere by ordering.
Full disclosure: the truth is about to come out. I did not feel the staff were as welcoming as they could have been despite the inviting environment the bakery portrays. To me, they were a bit off putting, so just a warning if you get offended or are sensitive to that kind of service.

Iced Strawberry Chocolate Latte
My aunt ordered a half sweet latte and really enjoyed it! She said it was a “10 out of 10!”

Eclairs
With so many options to choose from, we had no choice but to ask the cashier what the most popular item was.
I am not a big fan of cream filled donuts, unless it’s filled with jelly, or even a big fan of chocolate, but I will say this was pretty good! Not too sweet, the cream wasn’t too thick or chunky, and it had a smooth consistency.

Donut with Sprinkles
Though the icing wasn’t pink, this was giving The Simpsons vibes all day long! My cousin ordered this, and I am so glad we are family because it gave me just the excuse I needed to have a bite!
It was good, not too sweet or doughy at all. I liked it, but my cousin loved it. Let’s just say I was glad to have gotten a bite when I did, because he devoured the rest!

I am a nerd when it comes to historical things, so when I found out the bakery was built inside a building that was 200 years old, it was a treat in itself! Now that I know what to expect, and with so many options available, I will need to come back and give it another go. Any suggestions?
