Let’s get this out of the way – there are a lot of Mexican restaurants in the Eastern Panhandle and the surrounding areas.  We have tried a lot, but each restaurant has their own unique flavor, both aesthetically and menu-wise.  Mi Degollado has always been a favorite of mine, so I’m so happy we got invited out to feature this restaurant.  Located in the Summerset Village shopping plaza in Charles Town, Mi Degollado is serving up some traditional Mexican dishes that we haven’t seen at other restaurants.

Price 💲💲out of 5

The pricing at Mi Degollado is comparable to what we consistently see at every Mexican restaurant.  You can easily have a nice meal here without breaking the bank, but there are some higher quality items that carry a large price tag.  Like with many places, the lunch special is going to be your best bang for your buck.

Ambience 🧑‍🍳🧑‍🍳🧑‍🍳🧑‍🍳🧑‍🍳 out of 5

Most of the Mexican restaurants we have visited have such great theming, but Mi Degollado takes it to the next level.  This is the most colorful restaurant I have ever been in, with vibrant reds, oranges, blues, and every other color on the spectrum covering every inch of the dining area.  This is how it should be done – a few steps inside, and you are transported to the bustling vibrancy of Mexican towns and cities.

Let’s take a look at the dishes we were able to sample:

Bean dip – this dip was so velvety and flavorful, and the melted cheese on top added to the decadency.

Chicken Soup – this dish warmed the entire body and soul.  The soup is homemade and authentic, and is a perfect pick-me-up or comfort food during the colder months.

Vegetarian Quesadilla – when a vegetarian dish is jam packed with flavor, you know the chef knows what they are doing.  This fajita was packed with mushrooms, peppers, onions, and melty cheese.  You didn’t even miss the protein!

Fajitas Del Mar – if you are a seafood lover, get this dish and don’t look back.  A steaming, sizzling pile of tilapia, shrimp, scallops, and plenty of veggies.  This was one of my favorite fajita dishes ever.

Pork Tacos – these street tacos had some of the crispiest pork I have ever tasted.  It punches you right in the mouth with all that smoky flavor of the carnitas, and the hot sauce and lime add the perfect citrusy tang.  Really solid tacos.

Experience ⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5

Mi Degollado never disappoints.  It is one of my all time favorite Mexican spots because they are doing things the right way. From the beautiful decor to the unique dishes like the homemade chicken soup and seafood fajitas, this restaurant makes a concerted effort to stand out amongst all of its competitors.
