Are you looking for elevated Southern cuisine in the heart of downtown Winchester?  Look no further than T.T. Walls is truly raising the bar for fine dining on the Winchester Walking Mall.

Price 💲💲💲💲out of 5

T.T. Walls is definitely what you would describe as fine-dining, and the menu prices reflect that.  For lunch, most meals are between $15 and $30, with the sandwiches on the lower end and the entrees on the higher end.  They also have a full bar and drink menu, including a ton of specialty cocktails.  Lastly, the dinner menu has entrees from between $20 and $30, unless you really want to splurge on the braised beef short rib, which is $49.  While the prices are a bit higher than many of the restaurants in the area, the ingredients and experience warrant it.  This is definitely a great spot for a date night or to celebrate an occasion.

Ambience 🧑‍🍳🧑‍🍳🧑‍🍳🧑‍🍳🧑‍🍳out of 5

Walking into T.T. Walls is like taking a step back into an era of sophistication.  The building was originally home to a tailor, so all the decor pays homage to that history.  There are a ton of photos of animals in tailored suits on the wall.  The patterns on the walls and bar are also reflective of the building’s past.  This place screams luxury.  They have a beautiful dining room, full bar, and an outdoor area, so there is a place to sit for any type of customer.  We can really appreciate how they value the history of the building and lean into that classic sophisticated aesthetic.

Drinks 🍷🍷🍷🍷 out of 5

When I say fine dining, I mean fine dining.  The Foodies team was lucky enough to sample a couple drinks and a couple entrees during our last visit.  Here is a quick rundown of everything we got to try:

Virginia Manhattan – this custom drink is made with local Bowman Brothers Virginia Bourbon, sweet Vermouth, and bitters.  Bourbon usually sears my entire esophagus, so it is not my favorite alcohol, but this Bourbon was extremely smooth and didn’t burn my insides.  I was very impressed with how easy this drink went down.

Sweet Tea – made in house daily, this is true southern sweet tea.  They nailed the flavor.  Look, southern sweet tea is supposed to be extremely sweet, and this tea is, but it also has a depth of flavor that you don’t get from fast food chains that serve sweet tea.  They actually take their time and allow the tea to brew to enhance the flavor.  This is a must order when you go to T.T. Walls.

Let’s talk about the entrees:

Pan-Seared Jumbo Softshell Crab – what an incredible dish.  The crab was cooked so well, there was no trace of crunchy shell.  It was seasoned beautifully, with a hint of Old Bay kick.  But to my surprise, the star of this dish was the cornbread salad.  To be honest, I had never heard of cornbread salad until this visit, but I was blown away.  It is a mixture of cornbread, cucumbers, tomatoes, corn, and black-eyed peas.  Might be the most refreshing item I have ever eaten.

Fried Chicken – brace yourself.  This may be the best fried chicken in the game.  The Foodies team was in agreement – we have never tasted better fried chicken on our culinary adventures.  I would highly recommend you get this dish if it is your first time at T.T. Walls.  It is served with fluffy mashed potatoes, and absolutely incredible collard greens.  The other place I have been to that has the best collard greens around is no longer operating, so this is my new go to spot for some greens.

Experience ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5

The five star reviews are few and far between, and they are reserved for places that truly blow me away.  T.T. Walls is one of those spots.  They have nailed the southern cuisine, from their perfectly brewed sweet tea to the best fried chicken we have ever tried.  I’m so thankful for this place because it allowed me to try a new food that I am now obsessed with.  I will be going back very soon to get more of the cornbread salad and to try some other dishes we didn’t get a chance to sample on our last visit.
