On a sweltering hot sunny day, 135 million years ago…ok actually it was earlier this week, not during the Cretaceous Period, and it was in the Martinsburg Lowe’s parking lot instead of in Jurassic Park, but the Foodies team survived the oversized lizards and were successfully able to secure every cookie that I Heart Cookies, the viral traveling food truck, had to offer. Originally from Kansas, this team doesn’t only bring the animatronic dinosaurs out – they are serving deep dish cookies in nine different flavors. Since they swung by the Eastern Panhandle, you knew we had to check them out.

Price 💲💲out of 5
The prices are extremely straightforward. They are $5 a piece for a deep dish cookie, or you can buy them in bulk and save a little money. You can get six for $25, or you can get all nine for $40. These cookies have quite a bit of heft – and plenty of depth.

Ambience 🧑🍳🧑🍳🧑🍳 out of 5
While food trucks don’t usually have much in the way of ambience, the added touch of bringing the dinosaurs, especially right around the time the new Jurassic Park movie came out, is really smart marketing. They definitely got the kids to come out, and despite the near 95 degree heat, there was a very long line of eager dinosaur fans waiting to interact with the animatronics as well as eat some delicious cookies.

Of course we had to sample all nine of their cookie flavors. I will say – the heat was so intense that I’m not sure we got the full experience. Instead of being able to enjoy them right there, we had to wait to get home, and by that time I do think the heat impacted them a bit. The flavor was great, but the consistency of the cookies got a little melty. That being said, here is a review of the flavors:
Oreo Fudge Brownie – had the fudgy consistency of a brownie. Topped with cream cheese icing and an entire Oreo on the top.
Caramel Chocolate Chip – this one got a little melted, and it actually made it extremely creamy with the chocolate and caramel chips.
Milk Chocolate Chip – much like the caramel one, it was covered in melty chocolate chips. Just a great old fashioned chocolate chip cookie.
Snickerdoodle Cinnamon Roll – this might have been our favorite cookie of the day. Delicious cream cheese frosting. Really loved how this wasn’t just a sugar bomb, but had a solid depth of flavor.
Belgian Waffle – loved the creative look to this one with the cinnamon sugar whipped topping.
Buttercream Sugar Cookie – this one was almost too pretty to eat. Topped with buttercream frosting in the shape of a flower, it went so well with the sugar cookie base.
Monster Cookie – huge fan of the Monster flavor, with various syrups and icing, M&Ms, nuts, and other toppings. A lot going on, but great flavor all around.
Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip – decadent peanut butter and chocolate combination. You cannot beat that melty combo.
Circus Animal Cookie – the most nostalgic of the cookies, the animal cracker on top instantly took me back to summer break as a kid. Loved this one.

Experience ⭐⭐⭐ out of 5
I am really happy that I Heart Cookies chose to come to Martinsburg. I do wish that the weather would have cooperated more, because it was in the middle of our intense heat wave and it made being outside for any stretch of time pretty unenjoyable. We loved the cookies, loved the dinosaurs, and loved seeing our community come together, so hopefully the next time we get an opportunity like this it won’t feel like it did in the sweltering swamps of the Triassic Period.
