One of the most recognizable names in the Winchester pizza game is Anthony’s.  While there are a handful of franchises around the area, each operates as its own family-owned business.  The location in Stephen’s City is located on Warrior Drive, right by Sherando High School.  A fixture in the community for many years, this spot embraces Stephen’s City – including showing heavy support to Sherando athletics and educational activities, as well as first responders and other members of the community.

Price 💲💲out of 5

Anthony’s has extremely reasonable prices.  They are on par with many of the other pizza shops in the location.  They offer quality ingredients and come up with some interesting creations, like the garlic knot pepperoni pizza.  You can easily feed your entire family at this establishment for under $30.

Ambience 🧑‍🍳🧑‍🍳🧑‍🍳🧑‍🍳 out of 5

My first thought when pulling up to Anthony’s was how big the restaurant is.  There are multiple dining rooms, as well as a massive kitchen for making all those amazing pizzas.  They also have a ton of games throughout the dining rooms, including claw games, arcade games, pinball, and air hockey.  In addition, the entire place is decked out in Stephen’s City decor, including odes to the Sherando High School football team, educational groups associated with the high school, and the equipment from local first responders.  You can tell that Anthony’s is so proud to serve their community.

Food 🥩🥩🥩🥩 out of 5

Let’s get down to the food!  Anthony’s provided us with a ton of options to try:

Subs

Steak and Cheese – this sub was packed with steak, cheese, lettuce, and mayo.  The steak is cooked perfectly, and melty cheese is always a win.  The bread is crispy too.

Italian – I rarely make statements like this, but I do when it is warranted.  This is the best Italian hoagie I have ever had.  It is STUFFED with deli meats and cheese, smothered in mayo, and have so many fresh, crispy veggies (lettuce, onion, tomato, banana peppers), along with the same crispy bread.  I am in love with this sandwich.

Pizza

Garlic Knot Pepperoni Pizza – what an interesting combination!  The pizza is cooked so perfectly.  There is no flop whatsoever, and the crust is crispy but still soft and pillowly inside.  Adding the garlic knot crust to the pepperoni pizza gives a great contrast of the savory toppings with the crispy dough.

Cheese Pizza – to truly get a sense of a pizza shop, you should try a no-frills pizza like plain cheese.  Again, there was no flop, as it was cooked perfectly.  Great bold flavor from the red sauce and the cheese was melted perfectly.

Appetizers

Fries with Cheese Dip – these fries were seasoned to perfection.  Fries are usually a trash item for me, but these were actually seasoned and served with incredible cheese sauce.

Onion Rings – just a very solid starter option.  The onion rings were fried to perfection, and the onions themselves weren’t stringy.

Tator Tots – again, these were fried great.  Tator tots are tator tots, but these stand out as some of the better ones you will find at a pizza place.

BBQ Boneless Wings – these things were absolutely doused in BBQ sauce.  It was sweet and tangy and paired so well with ranch dressing.  Really enjoyed these.

Desserts

Cannoli – to be perfectly transparent, I do not like cannolis at all (my Italian relatives are rolling in their grave).  I just have never been a fan of the pastry they use for them.  However, the rest of the Foodies team loves them and said they were so decadent.

Lemon Italian Cake – now this dessert is a hit for sure.  Huge fan of lemon flavored desserts, and the citrusy flavor of the lemon cut so well with the cream and pillowy cake.

Experience ⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5

We had such a great experience at this Anthony’s location.  The family who owns it are truly great people, and they do so much for the community of Stephen’s City.  I would highly recommend checking this spot out, especially on a Friday night during high school football season, as it is the go to spot for the people in this community.
