I am a huge fan of food truck culture, so when we got the opportunity to head out to the Martinsburg Food Truck Festival in early October, you know I jumped at the opportunity. There were food trucks lined up and down the main streets of downtown Martinsburg, as well as other vendors selling household items, art, and other goods. While it was warmer than I would have hoped, the crowd was massive and showed how much potential Martinsburg has to host festivals like this.
Almost Heaven Taters
This blog will look a little different, as we were only able to sample one of two items per food truck that we visited. So a quick recap for each. At Almost Heaven Taters, we got a pulled pork sandwich and the butterfly fries. The pulled pork needed some sauce – unfortunately, it was pretty dry. The potatoes were solid though, covered in cheese, ranch, and bacon. My complaint last year was that the ranch tasted off-brand. This year, all the flavors married together nicely for a creamy, crispy bite.

Simply Smoothies & Bowls
I have honestly never had an acai bowl before, so I was really excited to try this place. The ingredients were so fresh and healthy. I would have preferred it with no coconut shavings, but other than that, this dish was perfect on a sunny day. The strawberry smoothie was also so flavorful and hit the spot.

Classy Caboose
We were on the hunt for some lemonade to quench our thirst, and when I saw that the Classy Caboose also had a foot long corndog so I knew this was the spot to be. The lemonade was so fresh, and the cherry syrup elevated it to the next level. The corn dog was crispy and the wiener was seasoned well.

Pop Pop Soda Shop
I tried my first ever Alani, and now I am extremely upset at Pop Pop Soda Shop because it is going to take everything in me not to order a dirty Alani every day. I am not an energy-drink person, so I’ve never went for an Alani (dirty or clean), but this Alani was served in a literal bucket and would have given me enough energy to conquer the entire world.

OG Kitchen
Couldn’t leave the festival without trying some insane comfort food at OG Kitchen. The platter we got, my goodness. The wings were breaded and seasoned to perfection, the mac and cheese was baked but still insanely creamy and cheesy, and the collard greens were just how I liked it – a little bitter, but mostly smoky from the cooking method.

This was such an amazing event headlined by some incredible food trucks. Can’t wait to go back next year and try some new food trucks!
