Sissy’s Family Restaurant: Sometimes It’s More About the Vibe than the Taste!

I know what y’all are thinking, “Oh snap, this place must have been buns!” Not entirely true, but I will say, TO ME, Sissy’s was a bit overhypedโ€ฆ.

Price ๐Ÿ’ฒ๐Ÿ’ฒ๐Ÿ’ฒ out of 5
The price wasn’t the problem. It was fair, to say the least. I guess it’s hard to say what’s expensive or cheap since the new normal/standard price is an arm and a leg. RIP to the times where things cost a coin or two. I miss five dollars being pricey!

Ambience ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿณ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿณ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿณ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿณ out of 5
The interior and exterior were nothing fancy. I liked a few details more than others, like the red-checked curtains and the wooden half seating areas; the red-topped booths were fine as well.

What stood out to me was the service! I mean, our waitress was beyond kind, very friendly, and was on top of her game! She even offered to have the kitchen remake my cousin’s Mickey Mouse pancake if it was too dark, and always had a replacement water ready for me! I was very thirsty that day for some reason, and she brought me three waters at the ready without me having to ask!

Food ๐ŸŒฎ๐ŸŒฎ out of 5
Okay, y’all, this is where my honesty might kick me in the butt, but the food was not worth the praise we’ve heard about it. AGAIN THIS IS MY PERSONAL OPINION!

Mickey Hotcake (chocolate-chip flavored)
This was delicious! The pancake wasn’t fluffy, unfortunately, but it was loaded with chocolate chips, which may have or may have not saved Sissy’s. I so badly wanted to eat the whole thing!

Taco Omelet (served with your choice of toast)
This included: sausage, green peppers, & onions topped with tomato & lettuce folded in an egg “shell” & served with sour cream and salsa

This was mine; obviously, I did not get sausage in it, but for those who eat meat, I wanted to include what it comes with originally! Now, I was disappointed with it, but it was decent. I ate it, but the veggies weren’t sautรฉed or even cooked, the tomato and lettuce were like from a burger, not cut up, and the lettuce wasn’t shredded. I am not one to complain, but that just wasn’t it, and the only seasoning I could taste was the salsa I put on there to help the lack of flavor.

I opted for the rye toast with butter, which was good; my 11-month-old cousin enjoyed it too, hehehehehe.

Gravy Over Two Biscuits (with homefries)
This was my aunt’s, and ohhhhhh boy. For starters, she wanted sausage gravy and was given chipped beef gravy. Like, okay, no big deal, BUT I KNOW Y’ALL SEE THOSE POTATOES.โ€ฆ Again, where is the seasoning?! At least it had onions mixed in, and I will say it had a nice crisp to them, but the flavor was not present.

Experience โญโญโญ out of 5
I mean, it wasn’t an unpleasant experience. Our waitress definitely carried most of it, and the food was edible but just lacking in spices and flavor. Should we go again for lunch or dinner? Is that where the hype originated from? Let us know if it’s worth a round two!
