In downtown Winchester, there is a spot serving up Mexican food – with a Dutch twist!  Sexi Mexi Burrito Bar, located on Boscawen Street, serves up traditional Mexican dishes with some Dutch flair.  While they have traditional dishes like nachos, burritos, and tacos, they also have Dutch-inspired flavors and drinks, including a beet-infused drink that completely blew me away.

Price 💲💲out of 5

Sexi Mexi has more than reasonable prices, with entrees averaging between $14 and $17.  The portions are plenty big here, so there is definitely a lot of value.  The drinks are also affordable, with most ranging from $10 to $12.  They have a fairly compact menu, so you won’t see much price fluctuation, no matter what you decide to order.

This place has so much personality and character.  I love how they lean into the “Sexi Mexi” theme of being a little risque, but not enough to turn off families.  They are passionate about their restaurant and the dining experience that they provide, and you can tell by how well decorated the interior is.  In addition, the staff is so friendly.  They want to be considered a place where you can have that bar-type feel of everyone having a good time, but with higher scale food.  They are definitely nailing that vibe.

Drinks 🍷🍷🍷🍷 out of 5

We got to sample a couple of their drinks, and as someone who isn’t a heavy drinker, I found myself pleasantly surprised at how much I loved these drinks.

Abuelita’s Margarita – this was such a fresh margarita, with locally sourced tequila, fresh squeezed citrus, and plenty of syrup.  It was sweet and so refreshing.

The Notorious B.A.G. – this might be the best cocktail I have ever had.  The beet-infused gin was so refreshing and earthy, and the ginger-honey syrup gave it the right amount of sweetness.

Let’s get down to the food:

Chorizo Fundido – this chorizo dip had a nice kick from the jalapenos.  I loved that it wasn’t just served with tortilla chips, but also warm flour tortillas for dipping.

Super Dank Nachos – these nachos were perfectly structured, laid flat instead of piled up, so that the toppings were on every chip.  They were smothered with pulled pork, beans, salsa, corn, and chipotle aioli.

Fish Tacos – the most decadent fried cod I have ever had on a taco.  So tender and topped perfectly with mango salsa and chipotle aioli.

Caribbean Jerk Chicken Burrito Bowl – this was definitely a different take on Jamaican Jerk.  Instead of a spicy and smoky flavor, they went with a creamy coconut based flavor.  I love getting to try different flavors, so this was really interesting to try.

Baby Daddy’s Meat Trio – this massive burrito was the size of our heads.  Filled with pork, chicken, and beef, plus all the toppings, this was big enough to feed multiple people.

Experience ⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5

I love going to these places and truly enjoying the atmosphere as much as the food.  Sexi Mexi was another stop where we went in and had a great time from the second we opened the door.  Good food plus an engaging staff is why we love to highlight these small businesses.  If you are in the Winchester area and want some really solid Mexican food, I would highly recommend visiting Sexi Mexi.
