Betty’s: A Shepherdstown Favorite!

I have made a few trips to Shepherdstown now, and my conclusion is you all have a lot to choose from! Veggie-lover-friendly too! I wish I went to Shepherd University, because with all the things accessible to the students, I would have been set, broke but set, hahaha! I am a huge breakfast fan, so after many recommendations, we had to see what Betty’s had to offer!

Price 💲💲 out of 5
Unless you were craving the crab cake platter, Betty’s is very affordable! My only issue: they are a cash-only restaurant. Now, they have an ATM inside if you are like me and do not carry cash often, so I appreciated that!

Ambience 🧑‍🍳🧑‍🍳🧑‍🍳 out of 5
Nothing over-the-top fancy about this joint. Your traditional diner vibes. I loved the wallpaper though, and our waitress was an absolute saint!

She had patience, top-tier service when it came to refills, needing more napkins, any condiments, and she even brought things to entertain my 10-month-old cousin! She didn’t make faces or complain when my cousin got a bit roundy; she was absolutely lovely! Shoutout to her!!!!

Ram Skillet
Consists of: 1 Egg, Home Fries, Topped w/choice of Homemade Sausage Gravy or Chipped Beef and Cheddar Cheese w/Biscuit

My aunt, being an alumna of Shepherd University, felt morally obligated to get this, hahaha. She really liked it, from the flavor of the gravy to the nostalgia of her past college days! I tried her biscuit, and it was soft, moist, and fluffy!

French Toast (strawberry and blueberry topping)
I wanted to get the crab cake platter, but couldn’t convince myself to pay $40 for it! I mean, I get it.… sort of, it’s filled with fresh, real crab meat, with no imitations at all. I know that’s not cheap, but my pockets. I have heard great things about it, plus, coming with two eggs, it is the ultimate protein-packed meal!

Because I was a cheapskate, I opted for the French toast instead, w/ two eggs, which was good! I won’t lie, with my first bite, it did have a strange taste to it. Not bad, just different, but I did enjoy it! I personally liked the strawberry compote better than the blueberry!

Side of Eggs
Eggs are eggs, you either love them or are tired of them. I had mine fried hard, but I like them in any and all forms!

Experience ⭐⭐⭐ out of 5
Tasty food, good service, overall pretty good. Was it my favorite so far? No, but there are more breakfast spots to be had. What do you think, is Betty’s worth the hype and I’m tripping, or do you agree with me?
